Recently, I bought a Minolta SRT 201 at a garage sale. Everything seemed to work until I tried to put film in it. The film advance lever will not work. It seems as though the shutter release is stuck down, and the film advance lever will only rotate 90*, while not actually moving the take-up spool. Any idea how I can fix this without going to a repair shop? Not looking to put a bunch of money into repairing a camera I got for only a few dollars... |

those kinds of problems require removing bottom cover of camera to unfree works. i,m sure theirs others on forum that are more knowledgable on these camera,s that can give you more exact plan of attack and photo,s. i had camera that motor drive had locked up part of film advance mechanism . it,d forced and bent forked pawl where it,d did,nt belong. after i straightened part and got it where it belonged it free,d everything up. don,t force anything that won,t fix anything just make problem worse. just remove bottom and lightly move film advance lever to see how things move. search this website and internet for more exact info. hope this helps James |

I need a little more information here. First, is the mirror up or down? If the mirror is up (the viewfinder will be blacked out), there may be two different problems. The mirror could have adhered to the foam padding that has gotten sticky. If that's not it, the other problem requires that you remove the bottom plate of the camera. If the mirror is down and you can see through the lens, it's a problem I haven't run into with my SRT cameras. |
