I forgot to mention the shutter is ready to fire and light is on when shutter release is pushed but nothing is happening. |

Could it be as simple as bad foam sticking the mirror up? I'd try very gently trying to pry it down, if you haven't already. Otherwise, though, I would suspect a linkage problem. |

Hello - It sounds like the camera isn't cocked, i.e the shutters are in the released position. You'll need to remover the bottom. Push the reset lever over and then advance the winder. See the following link for a picture. https://kyp.hauslendale.com/classics/resetcamera.html First you should move the mirror down. This is done without any force required. If you have to force it, then don't, there's something wrong internally. The mirror probably won't stay all the way down. Then do the reset process and fire the camera. The shutters should operate and the mirror should cycle and come to rest in it's normal position. If you reset the camera and the shutters and mirror still don't operate, then the bad capacitor replacement wasn't done correctly Marty |

Open the back & check if the curtain bars are still in the aperture. If so, gently push them in the release direction. If the camera now works ok, you may have interfered w/the curtains when loading film. As a result the curtains didnt clear the brake so the mirror could return |

I just got a X-300 which is more or less the same camera. I bought it as not functioning and hoped that it was the capacitor - it was not. Opening up the bottom I found the following (more or less by sheer luck). If the wind lock lever does not return fully to it's position as shown in the picture in the "reset camera" link as above mentioned and repeated below the camera won't shoot. https://kyp.hauslendale.com/classics/resetcamera.html So if the windlock lever as in the link is not absolute parallel with the long side of the body the camera does not shoot. Only a tiny fraction is enough. I think that a contact is not closed in that case. I will make pics later and post them as illustration. Regards Martin |

Here the pics. First one shows the windlock lever in the not fully returned position. The camera won't shoot like that. The second one shows it fully returned. As unscrewing the bottom plate after every picture seemed unconvenient to me I loosened the screw marked screw a tiny bit (really tiny) and now the windlock lever fully returns. Yes, the pics are lousy - blame it on my cheap digi. |

A repair and service manual for the X-300/X-370 (pdf, 110 pages, 10MB) can be found here: Free Minolta Manuals http://www.geocities.com/eskoufos/fmm.html From what I saw it's free. |
