I know this can be done, but I don't know what all is involved. Is this something that an experienced repair tech only should do, or can an amateur repair person pull it off. I have lots of tools, and just enough know-how to be dangerous.

Adding synch is not a job for a beginner: you need to fabricate parts, completely disassemble the shutter and drill a hole in the side of the casing to install a connector (which you will have to find), and keep everything insulated. Back in the 40s and 50s when this was commonly done, people were making parts kits for the job (and it still required a professional to do it). Nothing is impossible, and some amateurs are more skilled than most professionals; but for an average person, the chances of success would be slim. |

Why not swap out the shutter to one that has the synch? |
