Hello,

I acquired a Yashica 124 (not the "G") in hopes to fix it up to replace the LM I am now using. It has a crank winding problem. I thought it was very odd the the problem only seemed to be there when loaded with film. I drove in and after familiarizing myself with it (never been in this side) I learned how things worked. The gear (brass) in between the main crank gear and the gear attached to the spool was loose. I removed it to find that the threaded part had snapped off. After playing around I see that the gear is supposed to spin on a shaft that has these threads and it was stuck tight. Therefore at one time or another, someone tried to crank it and twisted the threads off. The good news is after about an hour, I was able to back spin the broken threaded part out of the hole. But I need the gear. I do not know if all the crank Yashicas work the same and/or use the same parts. Any help is appreciated and I will try to return the favor when possible.
The closet measurement I can come up with is somewhere in the neighborhood of 18.25mm
Thank You

I bought some Yashica 124 parts from Mark Hama before, and at a very reasonable price I might add (see http://www.markhama.com/). Mark was a pleasure to deal with and I recommend to contact him, if nobody here can help you out with the part.

BTW, if I remember correctly, the screw/shaft you describe has a left hand thread.

Good luck - Markus.

I have sent an email to Mr Hama with some pictures of the part and camera. And I believe you are right about the left hand thread. I ran the extra piece in the hole down farther before going clockwise to get it out. It makes since being that way because the gear turns counter clockwise and therefore would be unscrewing it's shaft if it was normal thread. Hopefully, Mr Hama will be able to help.
