Hi. I'm trying to adjust the infinity focus on a KAS2. I've done the sticky-tape and SLR lens as collumnator thing, and have determined that the focus is indeed off. (Actual infinity adjusted using the collumnator is closer to 15 feet as indicated on the camera's scale. So the camera is far-sighted, or maybe wall-eyed.) I took off the bottom plate, but couldn't see any adjustment screws there. Is the infinity adjustment coupled to the rangefinder? Thanks in advance. |

No wonder you didn't find any adjustment screws under the bottom plate, there aren't any. You adjust proper lens infinity focus first, then you make corrections to RF infinity if necessary, two different matters. Even with the RF way off, a camera lens may produce sharp pictures. With the auto S2 the procedure is as follows: - remove meter/feet scale cover on the ring, two chrome slothead screws - three setscrews/grubscrews around the ring are visible now - check if lens is out of focus - if so, adjust lens focus using Rick Oleson's method described in the link below - loosen setscrews only so much that the focussing ring turns free -if you loosen them too much the ring comes off its rail which is at least unpleasant - set the ring to infitity stop - tighten one setscrew - check again for correct alignment via collimator SLR as shown here http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/index-123.html - if ok moderately tighten all three setscrews alike - reassemble distance scale cover |

Thanks. That was exactly what I wanted to know. I'll run another test roll and see what I get. |
