Hi I have a Minolta X-70 (I believe these are Japan only XG-M's but I am not sure) with a shutter problem. The shutter opens ok but stays up until I turn the power off. It is the same on any shutter speed. Any ideas?

DIRTY AUTO/MANUAL SWITCH UNDER THE TOP COVER. SOMETIMES THE CAMERA WILL WORK OK IN MANUAL BUT NOT AUTO. IF NOT THE SWITCH THAN CAPACITORS. YOU SHOULD SEND IT TO A REPAIR SHOP. CHECK OUT THECAMERACURE.COM GOOD PEOPLE.

Thanks Markklitsch, I will give the switch a clean and replace the capacitor. Florida is a little bit too far away for me to send the camera, like 12,500km. Haha

I don't know for sure about the XG-M but with the X-300/500/700 the capacitor problem does not let you fire the camera at all (shutter would not open and LEDs in the viewfinder turn dark until you turn the camera off and on again). It could be a different problem in the circuit like a broken soldering point.
