Is the shutter in the Praktica L series of cameras (L, LTL, MTL, etc) a copy of the Copal Square shutter or is it an original design? I have an LTL with a gummy shutter that I want to try fixing and I would like to know if my Copal shutter repair manual is a useful reference. Thanks. |

It's an original design. Steve Sheppard's site www.ydo.abelgratis.co.uk has some good stuff on the Praktica shutter. |

You may also check the post by Moris within the last couple of weeks. He has documented his repair effort, well. The Praktica metal shutter was designed and produced earlier than the Copal. The Praktica shutter synchronized the Flash at 1/125 sec., while the first Copal did it only at 1/90 sec. Copal later made their shutter faster to synch at 1/250 sec. |
