After much searching online can anyone confirm if there is an adapter which will allow a M42 threaded lens to be attached to a Retina Reflex III.
I recently acquired a Tair-3 4.5/300mm along with a
Pro-Tessar f4 35mm and a Pro-Tessar f4 85mm and some Zeiss Ikon filters and 1110 lens shade as a box lot for $20. (sadly the 35mm Pro-Tessar has substantial lens separation)
It appear that all the adapters out there are designed to adapt other lenses to a camera that has the M42 mount.
Any help would be appreciated

No there isn't. The flange-to-film distance is 45.56 for M42, and 44.7 for the deckel mount used in the Retina Reflex. There is only 1.5mm to play with, certainly not enough to screw an M42 lens into an adapter.

As it happens, the design of the mount means that the lens mounting flange is recessed on the Retina Reflex, and an M42 lens is simply too large in diameter to drop into the available space.

Try holding an M42 lens against a Retina Reflex mount and the with the lens set at infinity, the lens focuses at around 500mm.

Regards, Chris

Just as I suspected.
Thanks very much Chris
