Does a Forum member know of a supplier of beryllium copper Flexi Clamps? I know micro tools stock them but their European branch seems dedicated to overcharging, particularly on the postage. Micro tools probably buy them from a well known manufacturer, so let's cut out the middle man. |

You will have to find a specialised tool wholesaler, most manufacturers will only supply in trade packs - not in one or two items. These tools are very simple to make with basic hand tools - drill bits, hacksaw and files, so why not cut out the whole manufacturer/retailer chain and make your own? They can be easily cut out of aluminium, brass or phenolic sheet. I have even made the odd special from wood - where there is clearance around the part to be unscrewed to allow a bit of 'meat' round the drilled hole. An old carpenter's boxwood ruler is ideal for making small diameter clamps, but any fine grained timber will suffice. |
