Hello. I have a Fujica ST605N, which was recently given to me from my parents. I'm new to this camera, and to film photography in general, so forgive my lack of knowledge in the more technical side of things :-)

On the right hand side of the viewfinder there is a meter needle which measures the light. The needle however does not move at all; it is completely stationary and lies by the ( - ) position.

I'm unsure as to why it does not respond to anything at all. I'm quite certain the batteries are fine, but because the camera has not been in use for a good ten years or so, I'm wondering if the light meter will have simply stopped functioning? Are there any other reasons as to why it does not respond, and can this be fixed at a camera specialist shop at a reasonable price?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I could tell you but the instruction manual says it better and faster so take a look at it online at http://www.butkus.org/chinon/fujica/fujica_st605n/fujica_st605n.htm

Thanks. I've already been through the manual though, and it doesn't seem to solve my problem.

Assuming you've already tried a fresh new battery (never believe an old battery is fine) and cleaned the battery contacts with either a pencil eraser or small bit of emery cloth, put the f stop (aperture ring) at f2 or 2.8 and turn the shutter speed to 1/60 or 1/30. Make sure your ISO/DIN # is on 100 and see if the meter moves from - to approx the middle.
