I have a new Rolleiflex 2.8c that the top/viewfinder was hard to open and now doesn't want to open at all. Can I take the four screws out of the top and pull that out to see what the problem might be or does someone know what the problem is? Thanks. |

Yes, do that.... you can lift out the entire hood and screen assembly after removing those 4 screws. The hood has panels on the sides, which link together with a pin-in-slot arrangement to make it fold up as you press the front back... the side panels may be bent, or the slot may be worn, either of which can make the hood hard to open and close. First ensure that the parts are straight, then check around that slot. A little grease might help if it's dragging there (be very sparing with it, normally this area would not be lubricated and you don't want it getting all over) |

I was able to get the top off and bend the top and tighten the spring roller thingy and it is working pretty good so far, thanks. There are a lot of small scratches in the taking lens. They are hardly noticeable when looking at it but when you put the shutter on B and hold it open, it is very noticeable. Can you remove the coating and just a an uncoated front lens? |

Just scatches in the coating? That is no problem. Leave it alone. In the glass, fill the scratch with flat black paint using a hair-thin paint brush. Sounds odd but it is the method advised in all the books for the last 50 years. |
