Please, Oh Please someone help me. I have an Edixa standard and had trouble with the shutter hanging up on slow speeds. I got as far as taking off the right hand top cover flushing with lighter fluid and oiling. Now though the 1/25 1/10 and 1/5 speed behaves the same as B ie second curtain closes only on release of shutter button and when turning the wind on lever the frame counter, take-up spool and film advance sprocket only turn sometimes. Does anyone have any advice, info, suggestions or know a source of repair info? Please help. Thanks in advance, Paul. |

It's been probably before dirt began that I did my last Edixa!! So I cannot picture details of the shutter but one thing jumped out reading your posting: oiling the shutter is a no-no!! Beyond that, I just cannot be much help without seeing and checking it out (please don't send it to me for I would like to retain what little sanity I have left). Art: www.flcamerarepair.com |

Hi Bossman, Thanks for your reply. I think I know what might be wrong with the rewind mech. I'll try re-setting it tonight. I still think dirt / lubrication is the problem with shutter release. I need to get deeper inside to give it a clean. Do you possibly recall how the base plate comes off? There appears to be only two visible screws but the base still seems tight with these removed and I don't want to force it. Cheers,Paul. |

Hi Bossman, Thank you very, very much for your advice and your offer of further help. "Touch wood" I seem to have managed to get the old beast working again. After a fair bit of trial and error I got the film advance mech back together (I can now get that right hand top plate off and on in about a minute!)and it is much smoother and quieter than before and the advance sprocket turns reliably. At first the shutter was still sticky on some of the slower speeds and the second curtain would not close if the shutter release was kept depressed ( like on B setting) but this seems to have corrected itself. I will now have a go with a roll of film and hope it keeps working ok. Once again thankyou for your help, it is appreciated. Cheers, Paul. |
