Folks, just wanted to share an article on state of the art of the time CdS light meters that appeared in 1964 Sep. issue of Popular Science (the following is one huge lnk):

Most of you probably know that all the archives of Popular Science, since its start, have been scanned and put online for everyone. For free! This was in the tech news a few days ago. It was done in collaboration with Google I believe.
