Hi all I've recently bought a 135mm Sirius branded lens via eBay as it was advertised as KA and pentax dgital compatable. The lens is however marked KR, and has the Auto selector marked A(P) which I suspect means it is a Ricoh KR pattern lens. Testing it first on my trusty pentax P30 I found it to be entirely compatible - picking up and registering as an A lens. But the flipping thing won't even mount on my pentax *ist DL2 (sorry to foul the forum by mentioning digital!) i seem to remember having read somewhere that there were issues of incompatability between penatx K and KA and Ricoh K and KR(?) lenses - can any one shed any light on this? |

Hi, This is a known issue -- the made-for-Ricoh lens has an extra pin that causes problems with Pentax DSLRs. You can search photo.net for more information. Regards, Anirban |

Anirban thanks for getting back to me on this - sorry I've been so slow in thanking you but to be honest I'd forgotten i'd posted this here as well as on "Manual Focus Forum" Just to let you know I have succesfully de-Ricohed a Vivitar 35mm, although I have yet had the time to tackle the Sirius 135 - but I do have week off next week! Thanks Stephen |

Hi Stephen, If you do come across with a Ricoh P-KA lens, my advice is to stay away from them, the extra pin will permanently damage your *ist DL. The little sensors on your lens mount are designed to be used with Pentax KA-FA lens, that gives you aperture priority. If any of those pins are damaged the aperture priority mode will be permanently disabled. |
