Hi,

I have a Sears KS Super which is essentially a Ricoh XR-6. I know it is not a valuable camera. That's why I'm tinkering with it.
It was working but at one point I fired the shutter and the mirror got stuck in the up position. The shutter seems to have traveled fully. The advance lever is stopped solid.
Been somewhat electronic, could it be a battery supply issue? I suppose that even with a low battery about to die, the shutter cycle should have been finished. I tried another set of batteries with no response.
Not been a valuable camera, it may be a good surgery guinea pig. Any idea how to proceed?
The rewind knob is also broken but that's the least of the problems right now.

Thanks,
Ismael

Can the mirror be pulled down with a fingertip?

This describes the same condition on my Sears KS-2 which I believe is nearly the same as yours. I got mine at a local flea market and suspected it wouldn't work but was more interested in the Pentax lens on it. Why it had a Pentax lens and not the usual Sears I don't know. Rewind is broken on mine too. :-)

If you figure out anything about it let me know. I haven't tried fixing it because, like you said, it is no big deal.

Hi,

Yes, I can pull the mirror down with almost no effort. It will stay down but just as easy if I put it up it stays up. The shutter curtain seems to have travel completely. I did some disassembly but did not reach very far.
Anybody knows where to get a repair manual? I have had no luck yet finding one.

Thanks,
Ismael

Hmm, that sounds odd. My mirror flips back up when I do that. Maybe it is not the same problem as mine. Well, good luck on that anyway.
