I am a newbie with old film cameras so please excuse any stupid questions. I am pretty handy with mechanisms though and I came by a pentax sv with a broken shutter. Initially I just thought it was stuck due to lack of use but further inspection shows that the curtain material had 'rotted' i.e. the rubber side is cracked and one of the tapes/ribbons is broken. So... Where to start? Anyone know where to get a service manual for this camera? How about any good websites for pointers or diagrams from someone with experience with this particular model (I believe the S3 is pretty much the same camera?) I am willing to give it a go without any info, but my chances of success will probably suffer...
Duh! I dont know how I missed that. Maybe I have been staring at the screen too long...
Many thanks Pcrov!
Anyone with personal experience please feel free to add a comment. A quick peak at the S3 manual indicates that I basically have to completely dismantle the camera to get to the shutter curtains. That's kind of lucky as I am almost half way there already... Just hope it all goes back together afterwards - you will probably be hearing from me again at that point.
