I was just given an AE-1 after the film advance lever had worn lose and basically fallen off, etc. I dont have a second AE-1 body for comparison, and the only manuals I found were AE-1Program, which has different components under the advance lever. I am not sure the parts someone retrieved from the ground are all the parts. I had one apart a few years ago and thought there was more than this. I just have the lever itself, the screw-in cover/cap, and a waffled washer. Are there supposed to be a pair of synthetic washers in the assembly, too? Though I haven't lubed it, right now with just these parts the cover cap slowly unscrews as you continaully advance through many frames. These parts appear undamaged, and the threads into the post in the shutter speed seem solid. |

The parts that make up the AE-1 wind lever assembly are, in order: 1. Pin face cap screw, 2. spring washer, 3. washer, 4. wind lever, 5. winding coupler. These are the parts that can fall out if the wind lever comes loose (although the drive coupler generally stays with the camera as it is held in a bit from a friction fit) |
