Hi David and Winfried,
Thanks for your helpful suggestions and advice about my Super Ikonta. The black disc (0.75mm thick aluminium) in the middle of the rangefinder thumb wheel was a tight push fit in a recess in the wheel, and was also corroded in. I thought it was part of the wheel. After soaking in solvent and levering in the screw hole with a craft knife it reluctantly came free and exposed the two screws holding the wheel.
I also soaked round the lens helicoid and under the wheel with solvent mixed with oil, and they are showing signs of wanting to turn. With luck I should be OK from now on.

Once you managed to get the focussing helix going again, you should disassemble it and clean it completely. I mean COMPLETELY, you will have to scratch off any residues of this old gunk from the threads. To regrease, you should use a synthetic grease or silicone grease. |
