I know there is a fair amount of discussion elsewhere on this board about stuck shutters for this camera and hope I'm not retreading old ground. I've had a read through but can't see anything which quite fits my problem.

Just wondering if anyone has come across a situation where the winding lever activates the shutter at the end of its extension every time it's wound on and what I can do about this (assuming it's not normal!)?

The shutter release button itself is either stuck or not stuck depending on how it's feeling, but in neither situation does it actually open the shutters.

This is happening because the cocking piece in the shutter mechanism is not latching. This might be because the arrester pawl is gunked - more more likely that its spring is dislodged.
If you expose the shutter mechanism and watch carefully whilst cocking the shutter, you will instantly see whatever the cause.

Just took another look at your post.
It could be that the pawl is in fact latching but being instantly released by release-mechanism. In which case you still have to expose the shutter mechanism to watch what's going on.
