Hello, I actually own two broken minolta x-700s--one with the bad capacitors and the other with a broken shutter--so I decided to try and frankenstein these two broken ones into one working one. I popped open the bottom on the bad shutter unit and replaced the bad capacitor with the a working one from the other camera. Moving to the top capacitor, I realized that I actually don't know how to take the buttons and dials off. So, any directions on how to go about removing the top cover would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Erik. |

In order for the parts to go together properly on reassembly, you have to remove the top @ certain settings. I dont recall all of them but asa 200 is 1. There isnt much room to remove/replace the top cap. Not an easy camera to work on if you have to go "deep" due to the # of wires to unsolder/solder. |

The X-700 is really not that complex to remove top..............don't have time to post it all here but you can call me (Art) and I will grab one of my bodies (camera that is) and help you. www.flcamerarepair.com (863-815-0480) |

Use asa 200,"P" w/mainsw. on. Check the position of the mylar washer in the rewind assembly before removing. If just replacing the cap, be careful lifting the cover so as not to break any of the wires attached to it unless you want to spend extra time resoldering them. |

This is the umpteenth allusion to bad capacitors on the X-700. Always reference to such intimates a commonly known issue. I ask please for the locations and values of these culprits and where exactly they are located. |
