I remove the zeiss contaflex I front lens element for glass cleaning. No doubt I did marked the position so that I can easily put it back. However, I keep trying to turn the front lens back but it just will not screw in. Is there any better way to put the front lens back? Thanks. |

My experience with the Contaflex I front lens element is that once removed, it can sometimes be difficult to replace unless the lubricant is cleaned from all the threads. After a good cleaning and some light lubrication, it should screw right in... |

I am having the same trouble with a Contaflex I. I am truly an amateur when it comes to camera repair. I tried rubbing alcohol, but that won't cut the grime. Any suggestions on cleaners? Also, what is a safe lubricant for these threads. |

I too have had some difficulty with this procedure. Just keep trying. Whatever you do, make sure the threads are engaging properly before threading all the way in. You don't want to do any damage. Lighter fluid will do a better job of removing the old grease. |

I have assembled three Contaxflex I/II Tessa lenses so far. Here is how I did it: 1) Make sure the front lens sits flat (keeping flat is the key) on the tube and it is at the right thread. 2) Put a little pressure and rotate the lens counter clockwise until you feel a subtle click. If you forget to mark it before you disassemble the front lens, this may also help finding the right thread. 3) Rotate clockwise and you will feel some resistance. If no, repeat step 2. Force it a little bit and it will go right in. It normally takes me less than three tries. These steps also work well on RF and SLR lenses. |
