According to 3 different light meters and basic EV knowledge, my wife's XG9 meter (Auto) is off by 2 stops. At first I thought it was right on then I noticed she has it set to ASA 400. (very overcast day, ASA 100 reads 125 @ between f/4 and 5.6 on 3 correct meters, and sunny f/16 rule is same) Her camera read 125 @ f/4-5.6 on ASA 400. She is using the correct 1.5v (x2) batteries. what now? |

It's the aging of electronic components, plus all of the mechanical suspects which produce problems in 30+ year old cameras. What next? Well, you need to get the top off, and it is probably a waste of time to do that without having some way to check the shutter speeds accurately. They are as likely to be "off" as the metering at his point. The electronic adjustments for meter and shutter speeds are variable resistors mounted on the top flex circuit. |
