Can anyone give me advice on how to fix this problem with an Aires 35V (interchangeable lens rangefinder)??
The problem is that I can't rewind the film, because I can't dis-engage the sprocket spindle. On the front of the camera, there is a knob with a D (for double exposure), A (for advance) and R (rewind). Problem is that the sprocket will not dis-engage, no matter what position the knob is set at. Any tips as to whether the problem is at the top or the bottom side of the camera? |

Ha! The third time is a charm as they say. Below is a site in Japanese, the 5th photo down shows how the linkage on that model is configured. First, if you have film in the camera you will have to remove it in a darkroom or changing bag. Once the film is out & you can see things, check & see if the sprocket is not disengaging as if there is tension on it from trying to squeeze one more picture that could be hanging it up too.
The rest is up to you if you want to open the camera you will see the basic steps in the top site as to how the top declid comes off. Good luck & hope this helps. By the way, looks like a nice little RF.
