I have the bottom cover of and I can just barely see the mirror mechanism that I'm trying to get to lightly oil(my mirror goes up slowly, down normally and the shutter seems right) Looking from the opened bottom with the lens pointed at you. to the left of the film+ shutter+ mirror mechanism on the right side of the camera, there is three tiny screws has anyone gone that deep into it, and is there more to it then how it looks . It looks like I could just unscrew those three screws and move that part of the mechanism a little bit to get direct access to the mirror mechanism. Any thoughts? |

I would guess it needs a tiny bit of new grease, not oil. The old grease needs to be cleaned off first -- that's most likely what's slowing it down -- and the mirror box has to be removed to do it properly. |

Thanks very much for the response, The camera will be fixed by me or it is done, I'm shooting a Pentax 6x7 now that Eric repaired for me but I was just looking at my ME Super one day, which was a gooey mess from mirror damper and light seals but I thought what the hell, I'd give it a try. I changed all the seals and replaced the mirror damper and took me many cleanings to get the shutters degooed. So It is up to me or it is done, Has anyone ever had the mirror box out, is that a complete tare down, maybe it is as far as I can go |
