I own a 21 year old X-700 which is still working after being used and abused but the lens mount now has a problem. The button that you push to unscrew the lens from the camera is 'mushy' when pressed. As a result, any lens mounted on it wiggles, it has a play of a few millimeters in both directions. I guess some problems with either loose connection, a broken part or spring or a misplaced parts inside. It happened either because a lens with a bent lens mount was mounted to it or because of all the times I have dropped the camera, the last one from about 4 ft above the floor with 28-90mm Vivitar and MD1 (heavy) attached to it. All functions still work and hate to part with it and don't want to buy a new one either since I have three other SLRs, all Minoltas. So, if anyone would be so kind as to post some instructions (hopefully with links to illustrations/drawings/photos) on how to replace a lens mount , (not too hard from what a stranger told me) it would be greatly appreciated. Or you could email me personally ([email protected])if it's more convenient. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Frank Gomez |

Frank, you can try to repair it yourself. first get the X700 service manual from here (big download, so be careful!!): http://www.geocities.com/eskoufos/fmm.html i've taken apart several x700, with patience and care it's not too hard. -LUIS |
