My Baldamatic III's Synchro Compur shutter will hang and stay open on B setting. On my other camera, the 1 and 1/2 seconds are slow. I know how to get to the shutter, but how do I fix it? Lubrication? Flood cleaning? |

There's a few links if you google for "Synchro Compur Repair", they might not be for the same camera, just for this particular shutter. |

Most likely just needs a cleaning. Usually the first thing to go is B, then the slower speeds, as the oils build up and dry. Something about the loss of momentum of the slower speeds allowing the blades to stick. MR. FLIBBLE: Rick, PM me your e-mail. RFf is down, and I can't PM you here (due to your privacy settings). The Weltini is packed and ready to go. Got your mailing address okay. PF |

If this shutter resembles anything like the Synchro-300, any dirt or liquid between the shutter blades will increase the friction/capillarity(?) between them. Over time as the springs weaken the shutter will start to get inconsistent and stay stuck open. PF, changed my settings, but sending a PM anyway. |

Synchro Compur, especially the 00 size, are particularly sensitive to being even slightly dirty and/or not properly lubricated. It needs more than just a flood cleaning... it needs a proper cleaning and proper lubrication per the original specs. |
