I have a Weltur with a beat up Compur shutter and a Weltax with a nice Compur Rapid. The Weltur has an F/2.8 Xenar and the Weltax has an f/3.5 Tessar. Can I put the f/2.8 Xenar in the Compur Rapid and put that in the Weltur, or is the lens specifically matched to the shutter at the factory? |

I installed the Xenar in the Compur Rapid without problems. |

Since Zeiss was fond of matching any lens to any shutter for a price mark, I don't see why you could have had a problem. The only thing to look out for is the way any camera actuating levers attach to the shutter. If there are no such levers, you're even more in luck. PF |

The f/2.8 Xenar is physically bigger than the f/3.5 Tessar. Turns ou though that the ring surrounding the Tessar has a smaller inside diameter, but the outside diameter (where the threads are) is the same for both lenses. I have also read that they matched the lenses to various shutters at the factory. The lenses and shutters were both different. However, I think they were the same measurements, so the swap should work. |
