The shutter curtain on my T50 has a few bent blades. They were pretty bent when I bought them (at a Goodwill) and I managed to slide them back into place but there are notable bends in the blades. Also, I can see my fingerprints on the blades. Basically I just want to know if it is necessary to take it into a shop for fixing ( I don't trust myself to put it back together) |

Basically it needs a new shutter, the blades are kinked and distorted. Even if someone could get them back into position it would never work properly - it would be much cheaper to buy a working camera, or a T70 or T90, better cameras in any case. The lens should be OK with these. I had an Olympus OM101 with a shutter in similar condition, not quite so bad perhaps. If there was a strong light source in front there was severe fogging, causes by light leaking through the gaps. Surprisingly some pictures came out OK perhaps because the mirror was blocking the light. |

Thanks John! I had a friend who has some experience with cameras take a look at it and he advised that I get a new camera as well. I just needed a second opinion (he tends to exaggerate his knowledge at times) before I went out and bought one. I will start looking around for one of the models you mentioned, thankfully the lens is in great shape. |
