The shutter curtain on my T50 has a few bent blades. They were pretty bent when I bought them (at a Goodwill) and I managed to slide them back into place but there are notable bends in the blades. Also, I can see my fingerprints on the blades. Basically I just want to know if it is necessary to take it into a shop for fixing ( I don't trust myself to put it back together) bent blades

Basically it needs a new shutter, the blades are kinked and distorted. Even if someone could get them back into position it would never work properly - it would be much cheaper to buy a working camera, or a T70 or T90, better cameras in any case. The lens should be OK with these. I had an Olympus OM101 with a shutter in similar condition, not quite so bad perhaps. If there was a strong light source in front there was severe fogging, causes by light leaking through the gaps. Surprisingly some pictures came out OK perhaps because the mirror was blocking the light.

Thanks John!
I had a friend who has some experience with cameras take a look at it and he advised that I get a new camera as well. I just needed a second opinion (he tends to exaggerate his knowledge at times) before I went out and bought one. I will start looking around for one of the models you mentioned, thankfully the lens is in great shape.
