It will hopefully be useful to anyone constructing the locking lever on these cameras,to know that the if the thread is not 8BA, then it is pretty darn close. The only drawback is that the new one is bright and shiny. Any ideas on how to put a little age onto brass? |

You can get some brass blackening solution from a hobby shop. PF |

Thanks. It has occured to me that I have some 'blue' left over from some years of renovating air rifles. Has anyone tried this stuff on brass? |

Depends what the base constituents of the 'blue' in question are - some products will oxidise brass, others won't. give it a try, nothing to loose. Another route to aging brasses - again depends on the actual type of brass - is to dunk the part in a near boiling solution of ordinary washing detergent for clothes. Use a very concentrated solution and keep dipping in and out. Then again fresh fruit or orange juice have created havoc with polished brass draw handles - young grand daughter just starting to walk! Your kitchen cupboards will no doubt hold a suitable and safe 'chemical' - one just has to experiment. |

The master speaks! Come to think about it, this is the first time I have ever had occasion to artificially age metal of any kind. So thanks Glenn, I tug me forelock to ee zir. Barnum |
