The film advance lever shows no resistance for the first 45° or so. If I tilt the camera so that the lens points up, the advance lever will just flop down 45°. Is this normal?
The lens seems to be kinda loose. How do I tighten this up?

not normal, but not the end of the world either: there's a friction washer that's supposed to keep the lever from feeling floppy in the first 45 degrees of the stroke - somebody might have left it out, or the chrome ring around the shutter release button holding it all together might be loose.
a slight amount of looseness is normal in the lens. if it's too loose (a little subjective here) the most common cause of it is 4 screws hidden behind panels under the leather next to the lens - these hold a panel onto the front of the chassis casting, and the shutter is attached to this panel. it's more common for these screws to work loose than it is for the shutter itself to work loose on the panel. if you find these screws are tight, then any remaining looseness is probably normal. |
