Hello again! Any advice on cleaning and bringing back the dull metal parts in this working Argus C3? Lens, knobs, dials etc. http://images57.fotki.com/v1613/photos/4/1233394/11094946/IMGP5328-vi.jpg Will Blue Magic do the trick? Any advice and or warnings? Thanks, Ismael |

I have not been able to polish off tarnish like that but I found a website showing the Mercury camera, which is always found in tarnished condition, but this guy must have found a way to polish off the tarnish because his Mercury cameras are brilliant. I am going to have to e-mail him and ask how he does it. Link: http://oldcameras.wordpress.com/tag/universal-camera-corporation/ |

I polish mine with a Dremel and Simichrome metal polish, bought from amazon. Having tryed 4 or 5 I found it works best for me. Some I do almost look like chrome and others just never polish out nice. Its slow work as the part gets hot, I usually lay out a bunch and just keep moving from piece to piece. Good luck |

If it isn't too bad, there is a marine aluminum brightener called Alumabrite that might work. Keep it well away from the glass. Alumabrite is part hydrochloric acid and part sulphuric acid and you mix it with water. If you try to buff or polish it out, be very careful and go slowly; soft metals like aluminum will gall very easily. That said, #0000 steel wool will will usually do the trick. |
