Hi everyone. I'm trying to remove the timer arm from my Olympus Pen FT in order to open it. Unfortunately the central button is smooth. Does it unscrew? Thanks |

Yes, it unscrews, it's TIGHT and I think it's LEFT HAND screw. I don't think you can get it without gripping it with pliers around the edge, which I hate to do but I managed it without leaving a scar on mine. If you have (or can make) one of those little ring clamps in the right size for it, that would probably be best. You might want to wait and email me for some notes on it before you go ahead, just to make sure on the LH thread thing..... rick = |

The smooth button is right handed but there is a left handed screw under it. Take a look at: https://kyp.hauslendale.com/classics/penfttips.html Definitely make a flexiclamp for it! It'll be tight. If you don't have manufacturing skills (or equipment), just about any collet will work to grab the smooth button. Examples: collet style tap handle, the chuck of an electric drill (turn by hand!)...you get the picture. Personally, I'd still cover the button before gripping it. Henry |
