I have recently discovered that my Tamron 80-210mm F/3.8-4 Model 03A lens that had been stored in a cartoon box for a long time is full of fungus. I know that nowadays it is a cheap one to get, but I'd like to try cleaning it up myself. Is it hard, does anybody have any experience on this? Is there a guide on how to do it? |

I have the same lens and it has the same problem. I tried dismantling it to get to the fungus, but ended up giving up. Approaching from the front, you undo one retaining ring, which removes a thin front element, exposing another retaining ring. I couldn't get this second retaining ring loose. My lens spanner wasn't rigid enough. So if you try to dismantle it, make sure you have a stout lens spanner, because you'll probably need it to get all the way in. |
