Hello, my name is Gustavo and I live in Mexico City. Recently I've developed certain attraction to photography, specially instant photography. I've acquired some classic Polaroid Land Cameras and I'm very happy with them. About a week ago, I found a very strange object while cleaning my house... A Rolleidoscop camera! http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/3372/tmlq.jpg I'd never heard of it, and after a little search on the web I found almost no info about this model of camera. It looks in pretty good shape, the shutter works very smoothly and so does the focusing mechanism. Could anybody give me some advice about this camera? Is it rare/valuable? Maybe a price range for it? I would like to use it eventually, so I appreciate any tips and advices about how to use it properly. But also, I would consider selling it as well if I get some info about it. Thanks in advice! |

The camera is for making stereo photos (two pictures) for viewing in a viewer. Built from 1926 to 1941. Two models: the one with 55mm lenes and the one with 75mm lenses. Probably the user manual is on the Butkus website. Price range is best found by looking at finished sales on eBay. |

You could also look here for a pricing guide http://collectiblend.com/Cameras/ I looked one of them up a while back, but don't remember what web site I found it on, but these folks may be of some help http://www.zeisshistorica.org/ Would be neat to see some photos from it. PF |

Congratulations, that's a very good find ! Rolleidoscops, made by Franke & Heidecke, are extremely sought after cameras and are normally almost only seen on auctions and photographica markets. Price is difficult to tell but should be upwards of 600 US dollar. |

Thanks for your help guys! Looks like I have the 55mm lens version, called in some webs "Baby" Rolleidoscop. Here are some pictures of the camera and some stuff that I found with it. I forgot to mention, it includes the original strap (at least it looks very, very old). http://imageshack.us/a/img534/1926/qb0e.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img29/3120/msqb.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img441/5730/zr2g.jpg I think the lenses aren't meant to be used with my camera, because the yellow filter says "Rolleiflex" and the other two lenses says "Proxar 2x2 8,5" (Which I found searching on the net, are for a Rolleiflex). Although they fit in the camera just right. http://imageshack.us/a/img198/7738/g7rw.jpg I also found a weird thing that looks like a glass engraving of a stereo photo, in a holder (?) of some kind. It puts in the back "Verascope Bte. S.C D.G.", with a seal "RF" bellow. http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/823/fzde.jpg Thanks again for your comments! Gustavo. |

What you have here is a pair of matched close up lenses - the Proxars, and an odd yellow filter. Suspect that the other yellow filter has just been miss laid. As there are two Proxars of the same magnification, the items must have been purchased for use on your camera. The metal holder is a glass plate holder for a Verascope camera - what model I do not know, and the glass plate is just that, a glass negative that was exposed in the aforesaid Verascope camera. |

The Rolleidoscope was the roll film development of the Heidoscope, a stereo plate camera invented by F and H. The Rolleiflex TLR was effectively a non-stereo version of the Rolleidoscope, with a similar reflex viewing system, but only one taking lens. |
