How do you replace the viewfinder on a canonet. The original one from Jan 1961 |

Hi, Philippe. Unfortunately, you'll need to look for a "donor" camera. I don't know where else you might find one. I gave one of these away about a year ago...sorry. Good luck. Jon |

You can cut a piece of object carrier glass used for microscopy, or a glass from a 6x6 slide mount, to proper size. There are some guys who have access to a sandblasting machine to 'grind' the frosted part (of course the place of clear rangefinder spot must be covered with tape). As a replacement for frosted glass, you can glue a piece of frosted sticky tape (or otherwise semi-transparent plastic foil) to the piece of glass, and cut the rangefinder spot (which fortunately is rectangular) with a sharp knife (Exacto type). |
