I have a Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm/F1.7 MM lens that I use with several Yashica bodies. Recently it has developed a slightly loose front barrel. It's the barrel that 55mm filters screw into. Although it doesn't seem to affect the front glass of the lens, I am afraid it will become worse over time. Does anyone have disassembly manuals or tips on how to tighten this front barrel. I have so far managed to remove the rear glass, but that's as far as I dare go at the moment. Would appreciate any form of advice. Many thanks. |

Assuming that it is the same barrel as the 50mm 1.4 AE, which i believe it is, you should be able to just tighten it by screwing it in a bit more counterclockwise. If that doesn't work the base that it screws on to may be loose. Tightening the screws attached to the base may help although i've never had this particular problem. You shouldn't have to remove the rear element though. Good luck |

Hey Scott, thanks for the tip. However, my Japanese made MM version of Zeiss Planar Lens does not seem similar to that of the AE version. Have tried turning the front barrel and it's definitely not a screw mount. Would try the base screws when I get appropriate tools. Thanks again. |

Unscrew the front decal ring with 'BLUETACK' and tighten the 3 screws below. |
