Only the green focus indicator lights in the viewfinder display. the remainder of the display area is clear. There is no metering settings etc. shown.

i don't know if this link will work, but a reputable seller of maxxums on ebay states in her listing: "THERE IS NO BLEED IN EITHER OF THE THE TWO DISPLAYS, a VERY common problem with 7000i and 8000i Maxxums (in fact, most sellers don't even mention this problem. Maybe they really don't know what they are selling..."
