I seem to have a pent up need for repair assistance lately. Here's another one...

Two of my Electros have hot shoes so tight I can't slide a flash into place. In fact, I nearly broke one of my Speedlights trying to wiggle it in. A smaller Vivitar flash that I use also won't fit. Is this a common problem in the Electros? Any tips on fixing this without the risk of damaging the camera? Considering the thickness of the mounts, I'm thinking they may need to be removed from the body before attempting a repair.

Oh yes, I did search the archives for this, but my keyword search returned nearly 900 pages. It's just too much to read through in one weekend. I'm hoping someone here is familiar with the problem and can provide a quick remedy.

Thanks!

Is it bent inward? I had to pry open a cold shoe on my Retina just a bit, so I could wiggle in a Vivitar.
