I have a Canonet Q-17 G-III, the automatic exposure got problem. The auto exposure only accurate when the focus lever on infinity position. When focus from the infinity, exposure indication pointer in the viewfinder moves along with focus lever, and the auto exposure is wrong. I have to put the focus lever to infinity first, press the shutter release half way to hold the aperture, then focus to the object and then fully press down shutter release. Could someone give me an advise on how to repair please. |

There is no mechanical link between the focussing lever and the aperture indicator. My best guess would be that there is something wrong with the auto flash switch. When set to a GN setting the aperture indicator will move in pace with the focus lever, since the camera will (or has to) select different apertures according to distance. Are you sure you have the mode/aperture ring set to the A position? |
