I managed to get a non-working Spotmatic going again, but there is one problem I just could not figure out a solution. All the shutter speeds from 1/1000 down to 1 sec and B are working correctly except that 1/30 seems to be like 1/8 and 1/15 as almost 1 sec. Strangely 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 ans 1 are all OK. Any suggestions? |

Did you pull the mirror box and clean the slow speed escapement? |

The slow speed escapement appears to be working fine since 1/8 down to 1 second are all accurate. But in this case, the 1/30 is slow by 2 stops and the 1/15 slow by 4 stops and consistantly. |

You will find that it is the slow speed escapement...the speeds affected are those where the escapement spring is only wound up a little. Removing the mirror box on a spotmatic is straightforward. Tomosy covers the overhaul in his "Camera Maintenance & Repair" |

Thanks J Farrell, you are right about the slow speed escapement. I found that a lever which pushes a cam in the escapement was out of place and that caused my problem. |
