the control ring turns but the two plates dont move.how do i strip this out ? there doesnt seem to be any screws or anyway to get to the two sliders. |

I have done this once or twice; it's a bit laborious. Remove the top cover (immediately-visible screws plus hidden ones under rewind knob, plus screwed collar on rewind shaft). Watchmaker's screwdriver blade can be inserted between the metal blades with 'comb' tops that engage with meter-needle to free them off if binding - add a judicious amount of graphite, perhaps (pencil, if you haven't persuaded your piano-tuner to give you some powdered graphite/ethanol suspension). Work the aperture-ring/shutter knob until you're satisfied that everything is freed-up/latching as necessary. Replace top cover.

Dear Paul,
Apologies if you've tried this.
The blades on the Trip 35 should only open to the preset aperture when the shutter release is pressed. They stay closed, regardless of where the aperture ring is set, until then. This must be tried in dull lighting to stop the auto aperture setting taking over. (If, say the camera thinks it's too bright for f5.6, it will automatically set a smaller aperture regardless of what is set manually.) |
