i'm trying to reinstall the rewind knob and shaft after doing a repair on a k1000, it won't go in because of a spring loaded metal piece. Does anyone have a way around this? Thanks for any help! |

Although I've never worked on a K1000 I would guess this was the spring that engages in a cutout on the shaft. Try holding it back with a small screwdriver inserted from above while inserting the actual shaft from below. It might take some fiddling but it should go back in. PL |

There is a spring that engages a groove in the rewind shaft. If you have the cover off. this is simple. With cover on, one way, If the screwdriver method mentioned doesn't work, is to file a bevel on the rewind shaft at the base of the threads so you can push it up. |
