I have a Nikkormat FTN that has a double image when you look through the viewfinder. It happens whether the image is in focus or out of focus. It is as if it's a rangefinder that is slightly out of focus. Anyway, it does not appear to be the lens because I mounted it on a different body and there was no double image. Any ideas what this could be and what needs to be done to fix it? Thanks, Eric L. |

Sounds as though the prism has somehow been able to move slightly. Try shaking the camera to see whether the image changes position. If the prism has come loose it's fixable, although you'll have to take the top plate off. PL |

Another possibility is that the first surface mirror is upside down, so that you're seeing an image from the top surface and the mirrored surface. |
