I went throught the arduous process of replacing a dead meter movement in an OM-1n, not realizing that the exposure meter cord system is different from that of the earlier OM-1, rendering my repair documentation useless. Please help with the following questions:
1. What is the correct routing of the cord after it leaves the big pulley under the meter? Should it go over the metal lug beside the mirror box or under it?
2. With the Shutter set at 1/1000, should there be any tension on the geared drum that pulls the meter cord? How should this be timed?
3. If the black plastic aperture ring is sticking, should I try to lubricate it?
Although the OM-1 is supposed to be an easy camera to work on, replacing the meter is a *%#$%*! |

I ran into this same problem, thinking that I had the necessary information to get through... it's quite a sinking feeling when you lose that meter coupling and nothing looks familiar. I have since gotten some information on the later design, which I think I have on my computer at home. Please email me and I'll see what I can send you.
(ps - if you've heard the OM1 accused of being an easy camera to work on, it wasn't by me...)
