I'm hoping somebody catches this like Danny Mitchell, whose site has been invaluable for this job. I have this Graphex shutter here (synched) for an Optar WA 90/6.8 lens. On every speed except 1 sec it is working fine. On 1 sec, the blade actuator is "ticking" along with the escapement, causing the blades to open very slowly. The blades open as they should on T,B, every other speed. The escapement does not need cleaning IMO, though I have done this to no avail. Any idea what could be causing this? |

Also, they close snappy after the escapement times off. |

Mike - there is a flat brass spring that helps boost the blades open and closed. It's located under the main arm near the place where the arm grabs the blade activating lever. One end of the spring sits against the blade activating lever. That spring can get broken, worn, or sticky. I would check that spring and try putting a drop of solvent under it to see if that helps. |

Thanks Dan - finally got around to trying this. Your advice was RIGHT ON THE MONEY. The blade actuation certainly a different mechanism than most shutters. Seems like a really well-built shutter from when "made in the USA" meant something. |
