Yes I know. They are no good. But this has been a good camera since I bought it in 1969. But now after sitting for a few months when I went to use it , upon advancing the film the shutter discarges immediately. It don't catch...Is there a simple remedy. Ihave the top off and the bottom but I can't see where it should cock. Might make a good paper weight. Thanks Ken
I have been that route many times with Praktica's but not for a couple of years - and I don't vividly have a mental picture of the problem.
However - the first curtain is controlled by the upper of the two stacked gears. It is the first curtain which latches. Look carefully and you will see the latching pawl underneath that top gear. Can't just remember where it is but use a Lupe and a toothpick probe and you will find it for sure. It is a relatively simplistic mechanism. Sounds like a microdot of oil on the latching pivot would fix your problem. (A microdot! No more!)
