A week or so ago I posted a message regarding my X-700 [mint $39.00 camera from a pawn shop, with lens]. It sudenly stopped tripping the shutter. I changed batteries but that didn't help, although the diods lit up in the viewfinder. I returned from Denver last night, picked up the camera and lo and behold, the shutter tripped time and time again. Could this be indicitive of a capacitor not charging enough to trip the shutter? I'm not even sure if that's how it works. Or possibly, there's a short. When things get settled, I'll play with it some more and see if I can tell what's happening. |

Yes, a capacitor could very likely be going bad, causing your intermittent shutter failure. This and other circuit failures are a very common problem with X-700 bodies. |
