I just got a Ricoh XR7 for cheap and the light meter acts very strangely. On aperture priority mode, selecting a smaller aperture selects a higher shutter speed e.g. f2 & 1/4 to f16 & 1/1000 for the same subject. The same problem happens when manually selecting shutter speeds. It makes no sense at all since I'd get very little light at smaller apertures. It seems the aperture linkage is reversed. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is it a mechanical problem or something wrong with the metering cell, or both? I'm hesitant to open up the camera and fool around with it since I know nothing of its design. Thanks! |
