The light meter of my srt 101 doesn´t work. However it responds to the "battery check" mode. Is this something that could be fixed easily?

First thing to do is to remove the bottom cover plate and check the contacts of the main battery switch.

The SRT uses 2 light sensitive variable resistors for metering. These are under the top cover. The variable resistors are connected in series. As more light strikes the variable resistors the resistance drops. As the resistance in the curcut drops the amount of voltage crossing the circut rises. What you are seeing in the viewfinder is actially a small volt meter. If you attatch an ohm meter to the variable resistors, one at a time, and shine a light into the lens you should easly see resistance vary from 1500 to 500 ohms.
Usually when I see light meters failing in an SRT the second most common cause is a failing photo sessitiive variable resistor. The most common is a dead battery. Your battery check works OK so the volt meter, battery and circut should be functinal and have a good connection.
If your variable resistors are failing I'll sell you a resistor for $7.50 or an assembly with both resistors and prisim for $25. (shipping included)
Let me know how the test works. If the varibale resistors pass I'll get you information an testing the entire circut.
I've enjoyed refurbishing and using my own SRT. I hope you will too.
I'll keep up with this post.

OOPS! Be sure to set the light meter to off or remove the battery before testing the variable resistors.
