Hi, I bought a rolleiflex automat mx form ebay but the taking lens is out of focus. It seems to be the distance from the lens to the film is longer than it should be, so just have to loosen the taking lens and make sure it is in focus. Anyone knows how to loosen the taking lens on this camera? Thanks, Howard |

Are you sure it's not the viewing lens? |

I am sure it's not the viewing lens. I used a 120 focus screen and attached it to the back of the camera, and checked the focus...to get a sharp image, at 6.5 feet, I need to turn the focus dial to about 22 feet...so at infinity, it will never focus. I need to adjust the taking lens so it wil focus at the infinity Howard |

Hi Howard It sounds like the focus knob may be in the wrong position on it's shaft if you can't focus the taking lens to infinity. To adjust it you would need to unscrew the cover on the knob and then loosen the lock nut on the shaft. You need a tool like a lens spanner or a modified screwdriver. You can set infinity focus for the taking lens using your screen on the film rails to determine correct focus while making adjustments but tightening the locknut/turning the knob/loosening the locknut. Once infinity is set for the taking lens the viewing lens is checked to see if it matches. If it's focus is different to the taking lens you can adjust it by loosening a locking collar and screwing the whole viewing lens in or out until it matches. It should then match at all distances. If the camera has been messed with it's possible that shims under the front panel or lens board may need to be adjusted, but this is unlikely and the two adjustments above should sort it out.
